Tyrrells’ security solution at its Herefordshire facility

One of the UK’s largest potato chip manufacturers, based in Herefordshire, has taken its final step towards continuing sustainability.

Tyrrells, based near Leominster, has switched its energy supply to liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is said to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 14 percent each year.

As part of KP Snacks, Tyrrells produces more than 86 million bags of chips annually and has high energy requirements.

Because of this, the company wanted to find a way to increase efficiency, reduce its carbon footprint and reduce the number of weekly fuel deliveries to improve on-site safety.

Flogas was then approached to solve the energy and location problems and deliver a turnkey energy solution.

Eileen Wilkes, production manager at Tyrrells, said the solution would reduce on-site shipments by 40 percent, resulting in less transportation emissions and less disruption for local residents. ”
