Monty Don shares the “seductive” secret behind garden updates but laments the “staggering price tag”

Monty Don regularly shares insights into his personal life on his social media accounts. The Gardeners’ World host has now responded to a viewer who commented on the BBC host’s open excerpt from a recent spring bloom.

The 65-year-old has uploaded a stunning photo of a flower from one of his precious gardens.

In view of his 220,000 Twitter followers, the host of Gardeners’ World wrote: “The first Taihaku bloom comes as soon as the weather is up to date – but the cold is less harmful than strong winds and rain, so it may still bloom in all its glory . ”

A social media user responded to the post while raving about the gardening expert’s photography skills.

The person in question wrote: “Nice photo. I’ve said it before, but you’re a good photographer, the flower is consistently sharp. “

The BBC host made an open confession when he attributed the snapshot to his camera, but added that the price of his purchase was “staggering”.

Monty replied, “Thank you. Trying out a Q2 with the macro setting. It’s a very seductive camera (but a breathtaking price!) “

Fans rushed to comment on the photo as it was posted, “But you are worth it and you deserve a treat. Here in the US it would be a tax write-off, so a win-win situation. “

Another commented: “Simply stunning!”

While a third added: “A breathtaking photo, looks like silk!”

The Gardeners’ World host later took to Instagram and shared another photo of the Taihaku tree from his Herefordshire garden.

Monty, who has been the show’s main host since 2003, recently shared his secrets for successfully growing seeds in the garden.

He began: “I have a peat-free compost. This is based on coconut picks, then I modify it by adding sifted leaf mold, a little garden compost, and sand to open it up.

“To be honest, chilies grow in any compost mix.”

Monty said the “secret to growing seeds successfully” is to make sure they are strong from the start.

He explained, “Distribute the seeds as evenly as possible because one of the secrets to successful seed growing is that the seedlings grow vigorously from the start.

“It is a mistake to think that you can just disperse the seeds as they are and they will all sort themselves.

“Because that then becomes the survival of the fittest and many of the seedlings don’t do very well.”

Monty lives in Herefordshire with his wife Sarah, where the couple regularly tend their beloved gardens.

The couple initially lived in Islington, London while running their jewelry business together.

Gardeners’ World will air on BBC Two at 9pm tonight.
