Police return to Herefordshire fatal crash scene for third day in a row

POLICE are on scene at the site of a fatal crash in Herefordshire for the third day in a row.

Officers have arrived at the scene of the crash, in which a motorcyclist died, on the A417 between Burley Gate and Bullocks Bridge in Herefordshire this afternoon.

Police first returned to the scene at around 4pm on Tuesday afternoon, with a number of police cars and motorbikes in attendance, stopping every car traveling on the road and asking drivers if they had been in the area at the time of the crash at around 4.25am pm on Friday (September 23).

It is understood officers returned to the scene and were again stopping traffic on Wednesday.

Police have again arrived at the scene this afternoon, with officers on motorcycles seen parking at the side of the road at 3.30pm today.

A police spokesperson declined to comment on the ongoing police presence.

Police said on Saturday that a motorcycle and two other vehicles, a white Fiat box van and a white Mini Cooper, were involved in the crash.

The rider of the gray Triumph Street Triple motorcycle, a 59-year-old man, suffered significant injuries and while every effort was made by paramedics to save him, he very sadly died at the scene. The man’s family and next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them all at this terribly sad time. No one else involved in the collision was hurt.

Sergeant Bob Conway from the Herefordshire Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) said: “We are asking for anyone traveling in either direction along the A417 between Hope Under Dinmore and Newtown Cross (the junction with the A4103 Hereford to Worcester Road) between 4pm and 5pm on Friday 23 September, who may have dash cam footage of their journey to please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who may live along this route who may have CCTV or a doorbell camera (or similar), which may capture images on the main road.

“Please can anyone who may be able to help with our investigation contact Herefordshire OPU on 101 or visit our website quoting incident number 414i of 23 September 2022.”
