The joy of the family as an indoor game opens at the MATRIX in Hereford

A HEREFORD couple shared their joy when their new indoor play area opens in town.

Terry and Mel McGee have transformed the former Poundstretcher store in Eign Gate into MATRIX.

The opening had been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, but customers were finally welcomed this week.

Activities include laser tag, mini golf, and ax throwing!

Ms. McGee said, “This is our first business – a vision we wanted to create when Terry left the military a few years ago.

“After raising three children, we shared the frustrations of other local families with the lack of indoor family entertainment in Hereford … so we decided to create one!

“Our biggest challenge was to find the right space as we wanted to be downtown. But in 2019 we agreed to take over the old Poundstretcher store.

“Herefordshire Council has been very supportive of a change in usage application due to the decline of the High Street. That’s why in 2019 we set out to transform an ugly white box into the vibrant venue we have today.

“We would have opened in summer 2020, but the Covid 19 pandemic delayed this for many months. During this time we continued our plan and are very happy to finally welcome guests of all ages to Matrix.

“We have received many positive comments from Herefordians who agree that Matrix is exactly what Hereford needs and we hope to have fun and entertainment for the local community for many years to come.”
