Denial of a Home Ownership Plan in the South Herefordshire Hunt Kennels

The HEREFORDSHIRE Council has rejected plans to build up to nine homes in the South Herefordshire Hunt Kennels.

Charles O’Conner had asked permission to set out the principle of developing two to nine self-built houses in the field in front of Tump Lane in Wormelow.

The area extends over one hectare of a field and is rectangular. Access to it would have been via Tump Lane, which has a pedestrian walkway.

Advisors who worked on the program said self-built homes would provide an avenue into home ownership for people and groups wishing to play a role in developing their own homes.

They also said that there is a need for housing in the county due to the housing shortage.

OTHER STORIES:

“The development of the site would correspond to the existing settlement pattern of the village and round off the development at this location. This would enable it to adapt well to the existing form of housing, both in terms of land use and development density, ”says the planning instructions.

“Due to the limitation of the location, there are also no adverse effects that would outweigh the benefits of providing housing in this case.”

However, planners rejected the system because it contradicts the established linear pattern of this part of Wormelow.

They said it would damage the character of the village and the wider landscape.

Another reason for re-use is that development would likely have a significant impact on the River Wye Special Protection Area.

The council was unable to come up with an appropriate waste water drainage solution for the program.
