How we danced and partied in the snow at the Herefordshire hotel

FANCY dress parties and wedding receptions are on the minds of the members of our We Grow Up in Hereford Facebook group.

Happy memories were sparked for many members after Dave Jones shared pictures of invitations to the Brockhampton Court Hotel’s annual costume balls in the 1980s and 1990s.

The popular venue later became a nursing home.

“I’ve always had good times at Brockhampton, a great gang,” said Dave.

“1994 must have come towards the end of the parties we had there.”

Many group members agreed.

“So many happy memories,” said Shirley Haylins.

“Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and wonderful hours with people who are no longer here.

“I loved the Brockhampton parties,” said Jacquie Hemes.

“A Christmas party came to an end outside because it was snowing and the chefs sold out all the big old trays. Going down the hill in one of them was magical. Magical place. It’s a shame that it isn’t open as we knew it back then. ”

Del Durham said he knew he’d been to parties there but couldn’t remember most of them!

Ann Marie Matthews said her mother remembered conga dancing out of the lower windows during parties at the hotel.

“She also had her wedding reception there and will be back as a resident soon,” said Ann Marie.

Chris Bucknell, Diane Hawkeswood and Susan Thompson remembered their wedding anniversaries at the hotel south of Hereford, among other things.

But not only former party-goers had good memories of the location, but also the employees.

“I loved working behind the bar there,” said Rob Sharp.

He was accompanied by Jill Jones,

who had a summer job in Brockhampton; and Janet Bowen who worked as a waitress on weekends and at weddings.
